Thursday Meeting to Assist Those Impacted by Hurricane Cemetery Damage

BATON ROUGE, LA – The Attorney General’s Office is leading a Louisiana Cemetery Task Force Meeting this week to assist families whose loved ones are buried in cemeteries damaged by hurricanes this season.

“My office remains committed to doing all we can to repair damaged tombstones and return displaced caskets, vaults, and remains to their appropriate places,” said Attorney General Jeff Landry. “We encourage anyone impacted to attend this informational meeting so we can help properly and respectfully take care of Louisiana’s deceased.”

Those planning to attend should register in advance for “funeral assistance” by calling FEMA at 800-621-3362, visiting, or using the FEMAMobile App. Officials from FEMA will be in attendance at the meeting to assist with the paperwork required for the reburial and repair of graves damaged by Hurricanes Laura or Delta.
