Landmark Free Speech Case in New Orleans on Thursday

Fifth Circuit to hear oral arguments on historic injunction against Biden, other top-ranking federal officials for censorship of Americans

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry’s landmark lawsuit against President Joe Biden and numerous high-ranking officials across multiple federal agencies will have a major court hearing on Thursday afternoon at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans.

A three-judge panel will hear oral arguments in Louisiana and Missouri v. Biden et al. on a federal judge ruling that enjoined Big Government from colluding with Big Tech to censor Americans’ protected speech.

On July 4th, Judge Terry Doughty of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana
prohibited key Biden officials from threatening, pressuring, or inducing social media companies to suppress any content containing protected free speech on their platforms – delivering a major victory for Attorney General Landry, his Solicitor General Liz Murrill, and their counterparts from Missouri who are leading a legal team on behalf of the states and five private plaintiffs who filed the lawsuit in May 2022.

Thursday’s hearing comes mere days after YouTube removed the New Civil Liberties Alliance’s “What Missouri v. Biden Means for Free Speech” from its platform for violating its medical misinformation policy. The one hour and fifteen minute video was of a Louisiana lawyer at a “Lunch and Law” program talking about censorship.

Attorney General Landry has repeatedly noted the importance of this lawsuit and his commitment to defeat the federal government’s unlawful censorship of its citizens. “We will continue fighting to uphold the rule of law and to prevent the unconstitutional stifling of Americans’ First Amendment rights.”
