Attorney General Jeff Landry Wins Court Battle Over St. Mary Flood Protection Plan

BATON ROUGE, LA – A coastal use permit issued to the St. Mary Levee District was lawfully granted by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in 2015, according to a district court judge who recently agreed with the arguments of Attorney General Jeff Landry in a lawsuit challenging DNR’s decision to grant the permit.

“The Bayou Chene Flood Protection Project is a critical component to the State's Coastal Master Plan and a grave matter of public safety," said Attorney General Jeff Landry. "This court ruling is a victory for the people of St. Mary Parish and those in the surrounding areas."
