BATON ROUGE, LA - Today, upon
announcement of President Donald Trump’s effort to redefine the Waters of the
United States (WOTUS), Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the
following statement:
“As someone who has been in the trenches and the courts
fighting for federalism and the rule of law, I applaud the Trump
Administration’s decision to redefine WOTUS. The previous administration’s
rule was an abuse of authority that granted federal control over many
bodies of water that were never intended to be governed by the Clean Water Act.
Today’s decision is a major victory for Louisiana farmers, developers, and
landowners and another defeat of federal overreach. I look forward to the
official end of this regulatory nightmare and the beginning of a surge in
infrastructure projects and economic development in our State.”
