Attorney General Jeff Landry Arrests Five Fugitives

BATON ROUGE, LA - Attorney General Jeff Landry announced this week that investigations conducted by his Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU) led to the arrests of five individuals.

“Thanks to the hard work of my Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the cooperation of law enforcement, these arrests were done in a professional and efficient manner,” said General Landry. “My office continues to be committed to doing all we can to prevent crime and apprehend criminals.”

Edward C. Jones, 30, of Tickfaw, was captured Monday, February 15, 2016 by General Landry’s FAU, with the assistance of the Hammond Police Department Street Crimes Unit and the Mandeville Police Department.

Jones was arrested on arrest warrants, from Mandeville Police Department, for Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearm, Carrying of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Distribution/Manufacture or Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Reckless Operations of a Motor Vehicle stemming from a recent vehicle pursuit that occurred in Mandeville. 

In addition, Jones was charged by the Hammond Police Department with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance.

Jones was transported and booked into the Hammond City Jail as a fugitive from the Mandeville Police Department. He is currently on Parole for a previous conviction for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with Controlled Dangerous Substance.

Nicholas D. Jarrell, 24, and Tyderia Nicole Beverly, 30 of Baton Rouge were arrested by General Landry’s FAU and the Mandeville Police Department, after being wanted from a January 16, 2016 incident at a business in Mandeville. They was charged with Simple Robbery and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Jarrell is currently on Probation for Felony Theft.

Riddick Franklin, 21, of Baton Rouge, and Denissea West, 21, of New Orleans were captured Thursday, February 18, 2016 by General Landry’s FAU and the Denham Springs Police Department. They were arrested on arrest warrants issued by the Denham Springs Police Department for Home Invasion (Franklin) and Principal to Home Invasion (West) from a Christmas Day 2015 incident in which Franklin is accused of the unauthorized entry of a residence while armed with a gun. West is the accused getaway driver from the home invasion.

Both West and Franklin were booked into the Orleans Parish Prison as fugitives from the Denham Springs Police Department. General Landry’s FAU was assisted in the fugitive investigation by the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
