Attorney General Jeff Landry Arrests Illegal Alien on Child Pornography

BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit has arrested an illegal on charges of child pornography.

“Criminals who victimize our State’s children will be investigated, arrested, and prosecuted,” said General Landry. “Our office will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to make Louisiana a safer place.”

Telesforo Lopez-Silva, an illegal immigrant in Suphur, was arrested on three counts of Possession of Sexual Abuse Images and/or videos of children (under the age of 13). Lopez-Silva was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center as a result of a joint investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Sulphur Police Department. Since his arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a detainer on him at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

“In our fight against sanctuary city polices this past legislative session, I warned of the danger that illegal immigrants and these policies bring to our communities,” continued General Landry. “Many claimed ICE would not detain illegals if arrested, but this case proves the inaccuracy of their argument.”

“Sanctuary city policies encourage illegal immigration, which endangers the safety of Louisiana’s people,” added General Landry. “Despite opposition from the Governor and his political allies, our office intends to be a model in arresting illegal criminals and stopping this reckless agenda that threatens public safety.”

Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit has investigated thousands of computer crimes that have victimized children from infants to 16 years of age. To report child exploitation, call the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation at 800-256-4506.
