BATON ROUGE, LA - Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement after the State House Committee on Civil Law favorably passed HB 275 - the Constitutional Amendment to prohibit, subject to certain exceptions, a person convicted of a felony from holding elective or appointive office
“The overwhelming majority of Louisiana wanted to ban convicted felons from public office. I applaud the House Committee on Civil Law for working to ensure the vote of the people will be honored. I stand with Representative Miller's efforts to pass this bill through the Legislature. And I hope the Governor will sign into law this common-sense legislation that has already been approved once by the wise people of our State.”
