Attorney General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit arrests two men for crimes against children
An investigation by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit resulted in the arrest of two men.
31-year-old William Clayton Byrd, was arrested on Highway 190 in Covington on June 5 for violating:
- LA R.S. 14:81.3 Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor (1 count)
22-year-old Philip Edward Walton, was arrested on 19th Avenue in Covington on June 6 for violating:
- LA R.S. 14:81.3 Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor (1 count)
- LA R.S. 14:81 Indecent Behavior with Juveniles (1 count)
These arrests were the result of a joint investigation with General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit, the Covington Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Mandeville Police Department, St Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service.
Byrd and Walton were both booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
